Organizers Stevie and Sandy Paulson organized the 5K to raise money for the Adult & Teen Challenge organization. A cause that works to prevent and treat drug addiction and alcoholism.
The national anthem was sung by Christina Stroup who said: “You are not just running for yourself … you are running for a good cause and for others”.
The event broke an attendance record and Stevie and Sandy are hopeful that today’s donations will also exceed the amount they raised last year, which was $ 60,000.
Brandon Torgerson, who works with Adult & Teens Challenge, says 5k helps their mission a lot and that they are “always grateful to them. They have put so much work into this year after year. We love them and thank them and they are such great partners to us. “
The 5 km brings together hundreds of walkers, cyclists and runners. With accessibility to everyone, the whole community came together to cheer each other up and help the Paulsons raise funds. “You know, because we walk, run and cycle, anyone can come. No one can find an excuse… it’s not really about racing, it’s about supporting the Minnesota Teen Challenge, ”says Stevie.
He also mentioned that “This is such a cool community event and we will continue to do this for as long as we can.”
