At this point, it’s easier to determine which stars aren’t involved in the beauty industry than which ones actually are. As a longtime natural and passionate makeup designer, superstar musician Doja Cat explains that her first take on a beauty collection – in partnership with BH Cosmetics – is more than just a line of someone’s items. one in the limelight.
Doja says she’s been a fan of the brand since she was a teenager. “At maybe 13 or 14 I bought this BH palette which was, like, something 200 colors,” the star said. BAZAAR.com. “It was a giant plastic palette with so many colors, all the colors you can imagine, and it looked like the perfect starting palette. Since then I have experimented and gone crazy with this stuff. I didn’t really do the crazy colors in public, but I did master basic makeup during this time. I still feel very connected [to BH Cosmetics], that’s why I got into it.
The new makeup range from Doja and BH Cosmetics contains a total of 25 products, including nine shades of blush; three options of highlighter, eyeliner and lip balm; six plumping lip glosses; a hand mirror; a set of 10 brushes; three mini eye shadow quads; and a mega eyeshadow palette of 36 colors. The collection is inspired by the energy and colorful elements of nature (especially flora and fauna), with a mix of pigmented metals like gold, silver and bronze.
While she can’t pick just one favorite from the collection, Doja says the 10-piece brush set is usually what she achieves most often when creating her own makeup looks. “Our brushes are so good,” she says. “These are all the basics you need, but they’re versatile. There’s a nice angled blending brush that I use every day – I actually need to wash it really badly – but also, the foundation brush is awesome. If you don’t want to use a sponge – sometimes when you apply foundation you tend to use more product with a sponge – you can still get good coverage with this foundation brush without applying too much product. Plus, all of the brushes are incredibly soft, so I like that too.
Alison Romash, Deputy Marketing Director and Head of Retail Sales at BH Cosmetics, recounts BAZAAR.com that Doja is a true makeup pro. “We are so lucky to have been able to partner with Doja Cat, and we were blown away by his expertise,” says Romash. “Doja came to every meeting so prepared with so many amazing ideas, so many opinions and such a deep knowledge of the category, which made it beyond a dream to work with her.”
In addition to meticulousness in the selection of products and colors, the Planet her The artist used his originality to foster original ideas for the range, like the handles of his brush set, inspired by a pair of Doja’s earrings. “The things she brought to the table really challenged us,” Romash continues. “The products are really phenomenal, and I think that stems from Doja’s very deep knowledge and passion for the category,” she adds.
For skin care, Doja loves to use Tatcha products, from cleansers to moisturizers, in her daily routine. “Tatcha is a fantastic brand. I was having a hard time fighting acne and it completely changed my skin. I use their whole routine every day. For Doja’s nighttime skin routine, she relies on the Glow recipe from the K-Beauty brand. “I just put on their watermelon mask and their avocado mask,” she says. When it comes to perfumes, the star loves Byredo’s Black Saffron fragrance. “I love Byredo Black Saffron Eau de Parfum; it has a musky scent which is really good. I realized that as a child I always liked the smell of candy – also vanilla and flowers – but as an adult I tried to enter this world of musky scents, and this perfume is a great place to start, ”she said.
A true beauty lover, Doja is no stranger to bold and adventurous makeup looks, with her last red carpet preview at this month’s MTV Video Music Awards. “I think my favorite beauty look from that night was for sure the purple smoky eye for the first carpet look with the lobster claw earrings and the red latex socks,” she says.
The star’s red carpet VMA outfit was created by legendary designer Vivienne Westwood, who Doja says is one of her biggest beauty inspirations. “She always takes things in a different direction,” Doja says of Westwood, “and doesn’t seem to be trying too hard, but it’s still that peacock of glamor to me. I love the way she wears her blush – blue or green some days, or it’s red, and it’s, like, who else does that? And also, it is a woman. She does all of these fun things that you maybe could relegate to a younger audience, but she just expresses herself, forever, and it’s beautiful.
Besides fashion, Doja is inspired by the beauty of her first love, music. Currently, she is a fan of the pictorial makeup looks of Norwegian artist Aurora. “She’s really fun – I guess you could call her editorial – but really fun liner and paint looks. She will do a look without makeup but with this beautiful war paint carefully placed on her face, ”she says. “Looks always mean something and have a story behind them, so I really admire her for that.”
Doja’s favorite makeup style? Something portable that seems to come straight from the pages of a fashion magazine. “Anything that looks casual is really fun to try,” she explains. “For example, bright eyes. It’s literally a texture that changes your entire look from head to toe. If you add something shiny all over your eyelid all the way to the brow bone and wear it all day long, that’s something we have to learn because it looks so good. Bright eyes are hot, that’s, like, the hottest thing.
The star is very fond of simple but expressive makeup that allows her to feel like herself while wearing it. “You are still you. You don’t change the look of your face, but there is still a very dramatic and fun look that feels fresh, but still creative and bright, and stands out, ”she says. “These kinds of trends really excite me, and I’m really looking forward to participating in them in the future. “
The BH Cosmetics x Doja Cat collection starts at $ 9 and is available now in store and online at BHCosmetics.com. Look for it from October 3 online at Ulta.com.
