Luau Red Dog Celebrates Summer While Benefitting Proud Pups Rescue

CINCINNATI (WXIX) — Fifty-West Brewing hosted its Red Dog Luau to raise funds for the Proud Pups Rescue on Saturday afternoon.

Dogs, pet owners and vendors enjoyed the summer sun while having the chance to support a tri-state rescue.

“The fact that they help so many dogs with special needs is so cool,” said Sarah Penny, event coordinator for Red Dog Pet Resort. “I mean, a lot of rescues do, but they specialize in dogs with special needs, so it’s really cool to know that doing events like this helps dogs get up and get the care. what they need to get a house.”

The luau included a dog-friendly pina colada, which each dog received if a donation was made to the Red Dog tent.

One hundred percent of donations made to the Red Dog Pet Resort tent went directly to Proud Pups Rescue.

“‘We are a voice for the voiceless’ is part of our mission statement,” said Proud Pups Rescue Vice President Michelle Marcis. “We focus on the elderly and special needs and palliative care, so we welcome a lot of dogs who might need extra medical attention to get through, or dogs who just need a place to land for rest. of their life.”

Dogs were also treated to dog pools, a photo op on the beach with their owners, and several vendors selling doggie items, such as bandanas and bow ties.
