New Pet Supplies Factory Creates More Jobs, Happy Dogs

Tails are wagging as the Geelong region benefits from 190 new jobs over two years, with leading pet retailer The Petspiration Group to open a new facility in the Avalon Airport industrial compound.

The Petspiration Group is setting up a $43.5 million national distribution and operations center, with support from the Victorian government.

The new center is expected to open in 2024 and will help the company meet growing demand. It will include a new regional office, training center and on-site dog daycare.

The center will spur job growth in the Geelong region, with up to 300 new job opportunities for Victorians of all skill levels in a variety of roles including packaging controls, machinery d warehouse and administrative work.

The Petspiration project adds to other recent investments in Avalon Airport’s industrial compound that are creating new local employment opportunities, including the new $170 million Armored Vehicle Center of Excellence from Hanwha Defense Australia.

Victoria’s logistics sector, which includes the transport, post and warehousing industries, contributes over $21 billion to the state’s economy and directly employs nearly 170,000 people.
